Will the Veterans Administration recommend pot for patients?
A growing number of states are debating whether to legalize marijuana for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder. But for an increasing number of veterans, the debate is over. They’re using marijuana to alleviate PTSD-induced nightmares and anxiety, even it’s banned by the federal government and remains illegal in their state. The trend raises questions about marijuana’s safety among a vulnerable group of veterans at a time when major studies have yet to prove the drug’s effectiveness.
